Last Race of 2011: Miami 70.3

Racing down South: Huatulco ITU World Cup and Galveston 5i50

My most recent races found me south of the border in southern Mexico, and not too far from the border in Galveston, TX.  Although my result at Huatulco wasn't what I wanted, I was happy with how I overcame several challenges during that race and pushed hard until the finish.  The course and the extreme heat and humidity make Huatulco a hard race no matter what. With some stomach issues going into the race and losing a full waterbottle on the bike, I had some extra issues to deal with.  I did as much damage control as possible and managed to still obtain a few points from this race, so it was not a complete loss, but I wanted to finish much higher than 26th.
